Biography
Biography
Superintendent James Lawrence Cook II was born to Deacon James E. Cook and Mother Sharon Jones-Cook on February 7, 1972. He was raised in the Church of God In Christ under the leadership of his grandfather the late Administrative Assistant Samuel L. Jones where he learned the importance of having his own relationship with God.
Pastor Cook attended the Detroit Public Schools. Upon graduation from Mumford High School, he was employed by Chrysler Corporation and has worked there for 27 years. Later, he owned and operated Cooks Janitorial Company, with contracts that included Starbucks, Southeast Michigan Head Start, and multiple office buildings within the Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Tri-County areas.
As a young man, Pastor Cook learned church work from his father while helping cut the grass and clean the church every Saturday morning. In the early 90s, he met and later married Evangelist Tiffany Brooks-Cook and together they have six children.
Mission Statement
Mission Statement
The church Mission is to develop disciples of the Lord, and in doing so, Pastor Cook aspires to bring unification to the people in Highland Park and surrounding communities. Greater Philadelphia Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. is a "Beacon of Light" in the community which sits on the corner of Kendall and Lincoln in Highland Park, MI.
Our mission is to win souls for Christ. We’ll do this by helping the needy and less fortunate, praying for the lonely and depressed individuals, and teaching repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
The Lord gave Pastor Cook the Vision:
You are Empowered by God to Change the way you Think.
